Description
Are you unsure about the validity of an identity document that is presented to you, or do you need to verify the validity of an identity document as part of a business process? Our product allows you to analyze the information in the MRZ French residence permit / residence card tape, as well as security keys validating their authenticity.
How does the MRZ online residence permit reader work?
After validation of your purchase, you will receive an email with the credentials to connect to our identity web application (check in spam a few minutes after purchase if you have not received the activation email).
You will then have access to the various tools available, including identity document verification: just send the document from the web application, the results are available immediately. You can find all the details on the product page Web Identity Suite.
Professionals, do you need validation by API or web application?
We also offer a service to verify all credentials or resources via API and via our web application. You can find all the details on these links:
How are the results presented?
The results of the analysis are available for download from the history of the identity suite in PDF / JSON / XML format:
Is it possible to test the service before buying?
Yes, of course! Two ID verifications are offered, just make the request at the following address: request a free trial.
(Check spam one day after the request if you have not received the activation email).
What document formats are accepted?
You can send your documents as a jpg/jpeg/png image, or as a PDF. Scans/photos do not need to be cropped or retouched: they are detected automatically. It is possible to send the front and back of the part on the same scan and in any order (front first and back below, or vice versa): they will be sorted and the recognition will be done without any problem. The same goes for the inclination: the scans may be a little tilted / badly oriented: the MRZ residence permit strip will be well recognized by our service! Example:
What is the MRZ French residence permit (Machine Readable Zone)?
An automatic reading zone, or optical reading zone, is an area, on an official document, reserved for the reading, identification and validation of this document. Thus, documents such as passports, French national identity cards, residence permits, driving licences can or must include, depending on the country and the version of the documents, an optical reading zone. It is located in the lower part of identity documents: it contains all the information on the document with security keys to verify its authenticity and the fact that it has not been modified. The information found in it varies depending on the type of document.
How is it made up?
The MRZ strip residence permits / residence permits of documents issued from 2011 onwards have three lines of text, each containing alphanumeric characters. For details of the information contained therein, you can consult our article at the following address: Secure file – Checking the MRZ strip of a residence permit.
Which document versions are accepted?
Foreigners’ residence permits v1 (from 2011) and v2 (from 2020) are accepted (see illustration below for TSEs v1, TSEs v2 correspond to the main illustration of the product):
What data is extracted from the MRZ residence permit / carte de séjour strip?
The data extracted from the MRZ band are as follows:
- Front row:
- Document Type: 2 characters, code indicating the type of document, represented by the letters “IR”.
- Issuing country: 3 characters, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code of the issuing country. For France, this is “FRA”.
- Card number : 9 characters, unique card number.
- Control key: 1 character, control key for the card’s unique number.
- Separator: 1 character, ” < ” to separate the first part of the information from the second part.
- Foreign number : 10 digits, foreign number represented by digits only, 9 or 10.
- End of line : 4 or 5 digits, chevrons ” < ” to complete the line.
- Second line:
- Date of birth : 6 characters, year, month and day of birth in YYMMDD format.
- Control key: 1 character, control key for date of birth.
- Gender: 1 character, “M” for male, “F” for female.
- Expiry date: 6 digits, card expiry date in YYMMDD format.
- Control key: 1 character, expiry date control key.
- Country code: 3 characters, ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code of the holder’s nationality (SEN in the example above).
- End of line : 11 characters, chevrons to complete the line.
- Control key: 1 character, control key for the concatenation of characters in lines 1 and 2.
- Third line:
- Owner’s surname and first names: the owner’s surname and first names, beginning with the family name followed by the first name.
The surname and first name are separated by two characters. <.
En cas de nom de famille composé, de prénom composé ou de plusieurs prénoms, ils sont séparés par le caractère <.
Les espaces et apostrophes sont remplacées par le caractère < and the name is truncated to 30 characters if necessary, and any accents on the letters are removed.
The line is then completed with the <.
Will I be charged if the information is not correctly extracted from the MRZ residence permit strip?
The answer is no! Only a document that has been correctly recognized is billable! If the attachment is not detected or incorrectly detected, you are not charged: only a successful scan is deducted from your verification credits.
